I am wired to lead! (And so are you!)
Leadership has always been a part of who I am, and honestly, I love it. But this season has been full of challenges—moments where stepping up meant facing resistance and questioning if I was on the right path. That’s why receiving Wired to Lead from my friend Suzanne right after the She Leads Church conference felt like a gift straight from God. This book has been more than encouragement; it’s been a companion, a reminder that God has wired each of us with unique gifts and a calling that only we can fulfill. As I’ve read it over and over, it’s helped me see my journey with fresh eyes and step into leadership with confidence and faith.
One of the things I love about Wired to Lead is how real it is about leadership. It doesn’t sugarcoat the doubts or the moments when leading feels heavy—it names them. And honestly, that was such a gift to me. It reminded me that I’m not alone in the struggles. Instead of making me feel “less than,” the book showed me that even those hard spots are places where God can grow me and remind me to lean on Him.
Another part that really hit home was the reminder that leadership isn’t about titles or having a big platform. It’s about influence—about how you live, serve, and love right where you are. That made me stop and think about all the everyday moments I can lead: encouraging a friend, helping my church community, or even showing kindness to a stranger. This book has helped me see that leadership doesn’t have to look flashy—it’s about being faithful with what God has put in your hands.
I also loved how the book celebrated our unique wiring. It encouraged me to stop comparing myself to other leaders and start embracing the way God designed me. That truth was so freeing. I don’t have to sound like anyone else or lead the same way someone else does. I just have to walk boldly in my own calling, trusting that God knew what He was doing when He made me.
And honestly, the timing of this book was no accident. Suzanne gave it to me right after She Leads Church, and it felt like God’s little wink—like He was saying, “I see you, and I’m still writing your story.” This season hasn’t been easy; stepping into leadership has meant facing real challenges and even resistance in my role. But the conference came right before I stepped back into school, following God’s call into something more. Looking back, I can see how God was preparing me for both the hard and the hopeful—reminding me that even in the pushback, He is faithful, and He equips me for the journey ahead. Sometimes God speaks through sermons or quiet prayers, but for me, He also spoke through this book that landed in my hands at exactly the right moment.
Reading Wired to Lead has been more than just turning pages—it’s been a reminder that God calls, equips, and sustains us in every season. Whether leadership feels heavy or hopeful, He is faithful to meet us there and give us the courage to keep stepping forward. If you’ve ever doubted your place or felt resistance in your calling, I hope my experience encourages you to press in and trust that God has wired you with gifts for a purpose. You don’t have to lead like anyone else—you just have to show up as who God created you to be. And maybe, like me, you’ll find that the right words, the right people, and the right opportunities will come at just the right time to remind you that He’s still writing your story.
