30 Things I'm Not Carrying into my 30s

As I stand on the edge of a new decade, I’m practicing the quiet, faithful work of letting go. Faith has taught me that not everything I’ve carried was meant to come with me, even if it once served a purpose. Before I move forward, I want to name what I’m choosing to release — not as failures or regrets, but as reminders of how far I’ve come, and an invitation to step into what’s next with open hands.

  1. I’m not taking the belief that I have to earn rest by being exhausted.

  2. I’m not carrying the pressure to be everything to everyone.

  3. I’m not bringing the version of faith that relied on performance instead of presence.

  4. I’m not holding onto comparison disguised as motivation.

  5. I’m not taking guilt for choosing what is life-giving.

  6. I’m not carrying urgency where patience is being asked of me.

  7. I’m not taking the fear that I’m already behind.

  8. I’m not bringing expectations that were never mine to carry.

  9. I’m not holding onto the need to explain myself to people who aren’t listening.

  10. I’m not taking shame for seasons that shaped me.

  11. I’m not taking the belief that being a good mother means losing myself completely.

  12. I’m not carrying the idea that my faith has to look loud to be real.

  13. I’m not bringing the habit of measuring my worth by how much I can juggle.

  14. I’m not holding onto the fear that slowing down means falling behind.

  15. I’m not taking the pressure to have everything figured out by a certain age.

  16. I’m not carrying spiritual guilt for asking honest questions.

  17. I’m not bringing the expectation that I must be endlessly available to be loving.

  18. I’m not holding onto the belief that struggle means I’m doing something wrong.

  19. I’m not taking the comparison of my motherhood to anyone else’s highlight reel.

  20. I’m not carrying the weight of outcomes that were never mine to control.

  21. I’m not taking the need to rush what God is still forming.

  22. I’m not carrying the belief that my best years are behind me.

  23. I’m not bringing the habit of shrinking myself to keep others comfortable.

  24. I’m not holding onto fear disguised as wisdom.

  25. I’m not taking the pressure to be strong all the time.

  26. I’m not carrying the assumption that asking for help is a failure.

  27. I’m not bringing old versions of myself that no longer fit who I’m becoming.

  28. I’m not holding onto the belief that joy must be postponed until everything feels settled.

  29. I’m not taking the weight of proving that my life is meaningful.

  30. I’m not carrying anything that keeps me from becoming more present, more faithful, or more free.

Here’s to making room for God to move in the decade ahead.
