Every Story Matters This Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day has a way of reminding us that every story in the room is different.
For some, this day feels light and joyful.
For others, it feels tender.
For some, it is filled with laughter and handmade cards and phone calls.
For others, it carries grief, silence, longing, complicated relationships, exhaustion, or memories that ache a little more today.
And yet, every story matters.
Not just the polished stories.
Not just the easy stories.
Not just the stories that look beautiful from the outside.
Every story.
The mother trying her best while wondering if she is enough.
The woman grieving the child she misses every single day.
The spiritual mother who has spent years encouraging and pouring into others.
The foster mom. The stepmom. The grandmother. The mentor.
The woman still waiting. The woman healing. The woman carrying invisible pain while still showing up for everyone around her.
Every story matters to God.
I think sometimes we assume God only works through the big moments—the breakthroughs, the victories, the mountaintops. But so much of life and faith is actually built in the quiet, ordinary moments nobody else sees.
A whispered prayer while folding laundry.
A deep breath before walking back into the chaos.
A text message checking on a friend. Showing up tired. Choosing kindness when life feels heavy. Loving people well even when your own heart is weary.
Those moments matter, too.
Scripture reminds us over and over again that Jesus saw people others overlooked. He noticed the hurting, the weary, the grieving, the forgotten, the outsiders, the imperfect. He made space for people to be fully seen.
And I think that matters today.
Because maybe Mother’s Day does not feel simple for you.
Maybe you are carrying both joy and sorrow at the same time.
Maybe you are celebrating while also grieving.
Maybe today feels beautiful.
Maybe today feels hard.
Both can be true.
But your story still matters.
Not because it is perfect.
Not because you have everything figured out.
Not because you always feel strong.
Your story matters because you matter. And the God who created you is still present in every chapter—the joyful ones, the painful ones, the ordinary ones, and the still-unfinished ones.
Sometimes we forget that the small things we do can leave the biggest impact.
The way you love people. The way you keep showing up. The way you encourage others. The way you hold onto faith when life feels uncertain. The way you make space for others to feel seen and valued.
Those things echo farther than you realize.
So today, I hope we celebrate mothers and mother figures with gratitude and love. But I also hope we make room for every story sitting quietly beside us.
The stories filled with celebration.
The stories filled with grief.
The stories still waiting for healing.
The stories still becoming.
Because every story matters here. Every person matters here. And every life carries value, purpose, and the fingerprints of God.
Happy Mother’s Day, friends. 💛
